The brainchild of it's founder member, Ashkari was evolved from Davii Adams former group, Envy, which never really got of the ground, despite creating acclaimed tracks such as "everything". A chance encounter between Ian Martin and Davii created the foundations of the group, with the pair searching for a vocalist.
In the meantime, after answering a call via an online bulletin board, Davii and Ian met up with Dan and Gary Tinsley. Originally just searching for a drummer, Dan brought his brother Gary along for company, and after chatting, found the pair had just left their old band, Frequency, and were looking to join/start another group.

The foursome soon entered rehearsals, still searching for a vocalist, with Ian, Davii and Gary standing in for the time being. That first rehearsal went well, with the bands distinct sound evident. But the band was still without lead vocals. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Ian called upon a voacalist and songwriter who he worked with previously. After a promising audition and an awesome rehearsal, Chris Heslop became the full time Lead Vocalist of the band.
